Technology use and technological mediation are pervasive features of everyday and professional life, shaping how social interaction is organized in situ. Across a broad range of settings, people interact with one another with and through digitally mediated channels such as videoconferencing, chat, and e-mail. At the same time, humans also increasingly engage in direct interaction with technologies, including AI-based systems and robots. At a time where a large share of social interaction unfolds within blended socio-technical ecologies, we bring together researchers to discuss how technology use and technological mediation shape the organization of social action.
